Projects in Pulse - Milestones, Files, Collaboration, and Payments
Everything you need to run client work in Pulse: create and track projects (or Jobs, Matters, Cases — your labels), manage milestones, share files, invite collaborators, and connect work to invoices and quotes.

Projects in Pulse — or Jobs, Matters, Cases, Events, whatever your organisation calls them — are the execution workspace for a piece of client work. They connect your team, your clients, your work, and your billing in one place. Whether you are managing a one-week job or a long-running engagement, the project module keeps the key pieces together.
Work Types: one system, your own labels
Every organisation starts with a single default work type simply called "Project". Admins can rename it, add custom fields, choose which tabs appear, control what clients can see, and even set up multiple types side by side under Settings → Work Types — for example a construction company might run "Jobs" and a law firm might run "Matters". Admins can also start a new work type from a ready-made industry pack (construction, legal, hospitality, field service, consulting, or a general agency template) instead of configuring one from scratch. Each client only ever sees the work types they actually have work in, so running several side by side keeps your internal structure private. Everything in this playlist applies regardless of what your organisation calls the container.
What this playlist covers
This playlist explains how projects work end to end: how to create them, how milestones drive progress tracking, how files and collaborators keep everyone updated, how the calendar connects to your projects automatically, and how invoices and quotes connect to the project record through the Financials tab.
Projects are connected but separate from other modules
A project can be linked to a client, a set of milestones, files, collaborators, tickets, and financial documents. But each of those areas still has its own space: milestones live on the project, invoices and quotes live in the Invoices module and can optionally reference a project, and the calendar pulls milestone and project dates automatically without any extra setup. Invoices, payments, leads, and client relationships do not require a project at all — attaching one is for when you want execution context, not because the system demands it.
Who should read this
Read this playlist if you manage client work, need to share progress updates with clients, track milestones, upload delivery files, or understand how Pulse connects project work to billing.
Frequently asked questions
Can clients see project milestones?
Yes. Clients can view milestones on the project but cannot create, edit, or delete them. Only admins and team members with project management access can manage milestones.
Does Pulse have project timelines or Gantt charts?
Not currently. Project progress is driven by milestones and their percentage completion. The calendar shows milestone due dates but does not render a Gantt view.
Can I rename Projects to something else?
Yes. Go to Settings → Work Types to rename the singular and plural labels, add custom statuses and fields, and control which tabs appear. Existing projects are unaffected until you make changes.
